After the success of Dyscordia’s first album ‘Twin Symbiosis’ in 2013 and the long list of great reviews and gigs that followed this release, the band went back in writing mode to prepare for the production of the second full-length album.
A lot of new material was already written in the fall of 2014, so when the band was asked to record a cover version of Sonata Arctica’s ‘My Land’ for a tribute album by Ouergh Records, they immediately agreed and took the opportunity to record both the cover and one of the new songs,
‘Chthonic Star’. This song was to be released as a video clip, to give the fans a taste of what was to come.
While the mixing and mastering of those songs was being done by long-time collaborator Jens Bogren at the Fascination Street Studios in
Sweden, the band continued to record the 9 other songs that would complete the track list for their second album. Those songs were recorded, polished, re-recorded and perfected with Dyscordia’s characteristic attention to detail in the first half of 2015. Once all songs passed the band’s own strict quality assurance in the summer, the band called on Jens Bogren again to use his superior abilities and bring
the songs to life with the signature sound he crafted so well on ‘Twin Symbiosis’.
After being mastered by Tony Lindgren, the album was baptized ‘Words in Ruin’ in September 2015, ready to be manufactured and distributed. After many negotiations with labels and distributors, the band finally agreed to a deal with Road Mark Productions, and the release date of
the brand new album was set to the 5th of March 2016, three years after the release of ‘Twin Symbiosis’.
